Lean Principles & Practices Certificate

In this program, participants are exposed to the fundamental methodology, principles and tools associated with the Lean process improvement methodology that is used to drive process excellence in organizations and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Participants will be immersed in an experiential exercise designed to give them awareness and practice with applying Lean principles and tools to improve process performance.

Topics include:
Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA); Process Stability; Standardization; Just-in-Time (JIT); Autonomation (Jidoka); Value Stream Mapping; Kaizen.

Learning Objectives:
• To define and identify the eight wastes associated with non value-added activities in work processes.
• To describe the Plan, Do, Check & Act phases within the scientific method of process improvement.
• To identify and evaluate the major elements of process stability in lean systems.
• To identify and evaluate the major elements of “just-in-time” and “jidoka” in lean systems.
• To interpret and use value stream mapping in the formulation of a production system improvement plan.
